Cooking didn’t come naturally to me—in fact, I might even say it wasn’t something I really enjoyed at first. It was simply a necessity. But being born and raised in Los Angeles, one of the most diverse food cities in the world, it’s impossible not to be inspired by the incredible flavors around me.
From Mexican, Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Italian, and Brazilian to Korean BBQ, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai cuisines, the list is endless. And with food come friendships—the shared meals, the family traditions, the stories behind every dish. That’s where my true interest in cooking began—not just in the recipes themselves, but in the history and love that go into them.
But more than anything, cooking is about community. It’s about coming together, sharing a meal, and creating memories around the table. So I invite you to try these recipes with a friend, cook them with familia, or gather loved ones and enjoy them together. Because that’s what this blog is all about—food that connects us. This is Shared Family Recipes.
This blog is my way of cataloging the incredible dishes I’ve learned, recreated, and added my own sazón to. Everybody has their own style, their own touch. These recipes are my interpretation of the flavors and memories that have shaped me, and I hope they bring you the same sense of warmth, connection, and nostalgia.
