Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp (28 g) unsalted butter 
     
  • 2 oz (56 g) dark chocolate (60–70%), chopped 
     
  • ¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar 
     
  • 1 large egg 
     
  • 1 large egg yolk 
     
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract 
     
  • 2 tbsp (16 g) all-purpose flour 
     
  • Pinch of salt

Optional: powdered sugar, berries, or ice cream for serving 

Steps

Prep 
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
Butter a 10-oz ramekin generously.

Melt chocolate & butter 
Melt together in the microwave (20–30 second bursts) or over a double boiler. Stir until smooth.

Mix batter 
Whisk sugar into the chocolate mixture. 
Whisk in egg, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth. 
Fold in flour and salt just until combined.

Bake 
Pour batter into ramekin. 
Bake 12–14 minutes, until edges are set but the center is still soft and slightly jiggly.

Let rest 1–2 minutes
